ABOUT AGNES MICKELSON
My experience in art has expanded over many decades including years in art classes, and instructions also received on trips to Canada's West Coast, the United States, and also in Seoul, Korea.  World travels to many places and its art galleries  allowed me to learn about a variety of ideas and methods and so  my own  designs, while always originals, have often been inspired by memories from those trips.

At times I frequently like to use  raw organic substances that I have obtained or gathered  in my compositions, whether it is sand from the Sahara or India's deserts, plant materials such as lichen and bark, or grinding original antique brick from some of the century buildings I have painted, working this actual brick into it  to be preserved in the art.

Items such
as cloth, metal, volcanic rock and polished stone, glass and petrified wood
have also  been  included in my work, and I prefer to add some of  these objects at times in subtle ways so they can become part of the art, blending in and not very obvious yet they become an important inclusion and pleasant surprise  when the viewer realizes they are there.

Drawn to interpretive creative designs,  a  variety of styles are often seen in my work,  influenced by  my ideas and interests when I pick up a brush and  I have been pleased to share a lot of these impressions  with others at various times.  During the past three years I taught many different  art  methods  as Facilitator of the Artful Minds program  at the Alzheimer Society for London and Middlesex, teaching styles of  art at weekly classes to groups of  clients in the early to middle stages of their illness.   These classes were  an inspiring and fulfilling activity  for everyone, especially this instructor.

Art will always be an important part of my life.
