GRAND BEND
I have been working on a series of various murals during the last year. The ones ABOVE, for Grand Bend, depicted a marsh theme and a forest scene with birds and animals you might see in the area. They are for the children’s playground area in the hopes of educating them to the local wildlife. They were done working with a graphic designer from Toronto who did the centre mural of a child looking into a mud puddle. We worked together to find away through the repeat tree design and colour to have the 3 pieces flow together.
AYLMER FAIR
There are 5 panels at the Aylmer Fair grounds but they still need the borders painted around them as soon as we have some warm weather in late May - above are a few examples.
I divided the fair into 5 ideas. The first one depicted the Crystal Palace that was built in the 1800’s and torn down in 1965..few photos exist. The second panel represented the roots of fall fairs. Ways to show off and improve your livestock and crops. It was done in sepia tones to emphasis the longevity of its origins. The next panel represented the produce competitions and events for patrons of the fair…from pie eating to baby contests. The 4th panel was about the midway and the rides that were the most common to each fair from Ferris wheels to the food booths. The last panel represented the main events that originally featured acrobats etc. but have now evolved to car and tractor events.

SHEDDEN BIKE CLUB
The Bike murals of Elgin focus on the community, its history, and its cultural events.
The one in Shedden has the theme about the early biking club that started back in 1885. It has a few touch ups but is basically complete. Shedden had two rail stations, mud tracks for roads, and women also became part of the bike clubs , which demanded a change from long heavy skirts to bloomers!
All this is depicted in the main mural plus the Art Deco rhubarb flowing around the border . In the picnic over hang are some of the changes in bikes over the century and they are depicted in a white border which are the gables of five homes in Shedden.
