WILF CHAPPELL
My interest in photography began as a young lad. At that time, the Kodak Hawkeye Brownie was the popular camera of the day, and black and white film was the norm.
It was my use of that camera that kindled my interest in the amazing world of photography. Through a succession of more sophisticated cameras, art classes, darkroom studies and related associations, my photography has led me on a journey of continuous creative self expression. The subjects of my photographic expression are often found in the natural environment. It is my intent to capture not only the physical appearance of a subject, but, what it felt like to be there. Other subjects are found in the often over looked detail within natural elements, many of these producing abstractions, a place I like to dwell. It has been said “if you turn off the mind and look with the eyes, ultimately everything becomes abstract” It has also been said “it is not the tools of our craft that are important, it is the journey our creativity leads us on” My work has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Lambeth, the Portside Gallery, the Art Emporium ,Williams Coffee Pub, Western Fair and other local fairs. w.mac2010@gmail.com |
