MICHELLE POXON
It all started back in grade 6 with my teacher from Burlington Central Public School. Mr. Holly created my passion because he was passionate about art. I loved art all through school but didn't pursue it after school ended. Instead, I got married to the love of my life and have two fantastic children. When my kids left the roost, I thought, what now? I played a bunch of sports, volleyball, baseball and my favourite of all: golf, which I still play to this day. I also hold the title of Grandma, to my little man Mason who was born during COVID. He lives on Vancouver Island so thank goodness for FaceTime. About 10 years ago I decided to buy some small canvases and some acrylic paint to see if my old creative juices were still present. I did a lot of searching on YouTube, watching different videos and techniques. I dabbled in landscapes and also abstracts. I enjoy both really. I was only doing it as a hobby, but it is now a passion of mine. I really enjoy painting birch trees the most; I find them calming and peaceful, but it all depends on how I am feeling. Sometimes I see things in my head and give it a try. It doesn't always work out and sometimes I surprise myself. I have given a lot of paintings to family and friends. It always brings me joy to know that they love my work and are willing to decorate their home with my creations. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I love creating them.
