Poppies, acrylic, 12'' x 12''
Picture
Betty was born in St. Thomas, Ontario and has resided in Elgin County all her life. Drawing and sketching from an early age, she first started painting in 1973.  Studying with many teachers has broadened her scope in techniques and experimentation, but she admits her realistic style is her own and she paints what she feels.
Using the mediums of oil, watercolour, acrylic  or pastel, Betty draws from a special thought or experience to create an original painting. She also has a special interest in painting local scenes in and around Elgin County and landscapes from her travels abroad.
One of her most rewarding pastimes is encouraging and watching her grandchildren’s artistic abilities develop.  Betty is a member of the Port Stanley Artists’ Guild,  the Lambeth Art Association ,the  St. Thomas Art Guild, and Portside Gallery. She is also a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Betty’s paintings are on display in several homes and business offices in Ontario, the United States and abroad and at the Art Emporium in Port Stanley.
