Annette Martin

Annette has been interested in drawing, painting and creating since childhood and was inspired and encouraged by her high school art teacher to pursue a career in art and teaching.

She is a graduate of Fanshawe Fine Art Program also earned her Bachelor of Fine Art Honours Degree from the University of Windsor.

Annette has been a teacher as East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer for the past 18 years as well as Head of the Visual Art Department for the past eight 1/2 years.  Being an art teacher has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience which has enriched and influenced her own art making.

Annette's art has taken an extreme transformation over the pasts few years.  After developing and enhancing her skills in realism, colour and working from photographs, her art now focuses on the exploration of vibrant imaginary landscapes incorporated with figures, flowers and fish.

“I love the excitement and play of colours vibrating amongst one another.” Annette works in acrylic, watercolours and mixed media.  She has participated in local shows and is represented in private collections.  She is also a member of the St Thomas-Elgin Artists' Guild.
